Today on August 10th we are celebrating World Lion Day. We are here with a few fascinating pieces of information about lions.
Let's talk about why we celebrate lion's day. Every year on August 10th we celebrate World Lion Day to raise awareness about lions and making humans support their protection and conservation. Although the lion is often referred to as the "king of the jungle," it actually only lives in grasslands and plains. Then why is it called "king of the jungle"? Well, Lions are the kings because of their raw power and strength. Lions fear no other animals, however, like kings, lions do have enemies. Lions/lionesses hunt in a group and when they hunt as a group their success rate goes up to one in three. That means teamwork and strategizing is important. Insightful isn't it?
From Dr Natalia Borrego's work, which carries out a lion IQ test, she believes that lions are the smartest of all the cats in the family.
