Habitat loss postures the most prominent danger to species. The world's forests, swamps, plains, lakes, and other habitats continue to disappear as they are harvested for human consumption and for development.
There are three major types of habitat loss that are habitat destruction, habitat degradation, and habitat fragmentation.
Habitat destruction: territory gets invaded by humans, also termed habitat loss.
Habitat degradation: human origin that makes habitats less suitable or less available to cetaceans ( any member of an entirely aquatic group of mammals)
Habitat fragmentation: habitat is transformed into a number of smaller patches
Take the example of the recent events of chopping down trees near Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel, Mysore, and constructing a helipad. The hotel is surrounded by plants that were planted by the forest department and now the area is wooded with beautiful trees, animals, insects, and birds. By cutting the trees the animals lose their habitat.
